Different Types of Stress
There are various types of stress including:
Acute Stress
This is the most common type of stress because you know exactly why you are stressed. For instance, it may be that you were just in a car crash or that your child has been in an accident at school. Normally, after these incidents are over with your stress disappears and you return to normality. This form of stress should not affect your mind or body permanently.
Episodic Acute Stress
This is when you experience multiple stressful situations most of your time. For example, if you are always late, always handling too many projects, always in a rush and your life always seems to be out of control.
If you are prone to episodic acute stress then you will probably not know it or not admit to it. You may also blame this type of stress on other people or may just say it is normal. Unfortunately, these type of people tend not to change their lifestyle until severe physical symptoms occur.
Chronic Stress
Chronic stress is one of the worse types of stress because it wears you down all the time. It affects your health both mentally and physically and can lead to a breakdown, even death. This type of stress is extremely dangerous not only because it can lead to death but because when people have it they get used to it and make it just part of their life. Therefore, it turns into a long term disorder and can be extremely difficult to treat.
Traumatic Stress
This type of stress results from someone experiencing a catastrophic event such as a life threatening accident. Normally, what happens is that after the traumatic event the individual begins to recover from it and get on with their lives but some people do not psychologically get over the trauma and end up having frightening flashbacks of the event. This is also known as post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). This type of stress needs professional attention from a doctor or an expert in the field of PTSD.
Now that you have identified what type of stress you have lets work out what caused your stress.
