How to manage your body

  • Headaches

Nine out of ten headaches are caused by tension in the neck and shoulder muscles. Therefore, instead of taking painkillers try to have a professional back and shoulder rub. If you can not afford to pay someone for a massage then ask your partner, family member or friend to give you a rub. By doing so the tension will soon disappear and so will the headaches.

  • Exercise

Try to do at least one form of exercise each week because it is a great way to lose tension and also keep your body healthy. Make sure it is something that you really enjoy like a yoga class, weight training or aerobic class.

  • Abdominal problems

If you are stressed you may find that you have some abdominal problems such as cramps, bloating, gas etc. Then you need to decrease the amount of fats, alcohol, and caffeine that you consume. Also, try to eat small meals slowly and chew your food as much as you can so that it is easily digested.

  • Breathlessness

When you are stressed you start to become breathless. In order to combat this you must make the time to take slow, deep breaths. Ensure that when you inhale through your nose you push out your abdomen and count for 5 seconds. Then let the air out through your mouth for 5 seconds. Repeat this slow breath another 5 to 10 times.

  • An aching jaw

Sometimes when you are stressed your jaw becomes sore mainly because you clench your teeth together. In order to combat this push your fist up under your chin and then try to open your mouth at the same time.

  • Sitting for long periods of time

When you are concentrating on getting something finished or trying to meet a deadline, you find that you strain your back sitting at the computer. In order to help this back strain you must stand up with your feet shoulder width apart and stretch your arms up to the ceiling at the same time inhaling deeply.

  • Drink plenty of water

In order for your entire body to stay de-stressed and healthy you must constantly drink water. Water is known to refresh the mind and help the body to keep functioning properly.

  • Healthy sleep patterns

Make sure that you get enough sleep at night for your body and mind to recuperate.

  • Healthy diet

Make sure that you always eat properly and have a good balance of food. Do not eat too much and do not starve yourself.

  • Pamper yourself

Make sure that you treat your self every month for instance have a massage, facial, weekend away etc.
