Traumatic Stress This type of stress results from someone experiencing a catastrophic event such as a life threatening accident. Normally, what happens is that after the traumatic event the individual begins to recover from it and get on with their lives but some people do not psychologically get over the trauma and end up having frightening flashbacks of the event.
